Sweet Talking Man
The door’s always open
And I was just hopin'
That I’d catch you as you walk by
Tonight I’ll be gentle
But not too sentimental
‘Cause I’m just a sweet-talking liar
So come and chance it
And we’ll just romance it
And drink up all the sweet love we can
Tonight I’ll be gentle
But not too sentimental
‘Cause I’m just a sweet-talking man
Nothing is ever quite what it should be
But even what’s here has its charms
The bed is still warm, and we’re orphans in a storm
And we just need each other’s arms
It never comes easy, no matter how we see it
We only do what we can
Tonight I’ll be gentle
‘Cause I’m just a sweet-talking man

Wouldn't it be great if some of the people we meet in life came with
warning labels such as "I cheat," "I will steal
from you," "I will let you down," etc.?
In this song, the singer just says, "I'll sweet talk
you, so don't expect the whole truth and nothing but. I'm just playing a
game; and like most games, it's not supposed to last forever, so we should
enjoy it while we can." Sneaky bastard, ain't he?
